Don't Quit

Devotional: Don’t Quit

Don't Quit

Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Recently I’ve been having the urge to give up on my business and get a normal job. My reason for wanting to quit has more to do with the time commitment that it takes to run a small business. I knew how much time it would take when I started my business and the sacrifices that I would have to make; but some days it’s hard for me to remember why I want to be an entrepreneur. I am very fortunate to have a great support system around me. They constantly remind me how blessed I am. I know a lot of people don’t have this, so this is my main reason for writing this post. I have the feeling that there is someone reading this that wants to quit. You want to give up because things are not progressing the way you want them to. I am here to tell you, DON’T QUIT!

Things will get better.

My life is a testament to this. I wasn’t always so optimistic. I used to expect for bad things to happen. So when something bad happened I wasn’t surprised. I thought this was a normal way to live. I was so wrong! Terrible things do happen that we have no control over, but there is always a brighter side. God is always there with you.

It may be hard right now, but don’t give up.

On the days that I get the urge to quit I recite my favorite bible verse, Philippians 4:13; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do. I get the opportunity to plan special occasions for my clients. This is what keeps me going on the days that I do want to quit. On the days that you want to give up, remind yourself why you can’t quit. Your why may be family, financial freedom, peace, happiness, purpose, to better yourself, and etc. You need  a reason to not give up. My why is to create transformation in others’ lives, including my own.

What is your why?

As I write this post I keep thinking of several reasons that I can’t quit. The main reason is that God wouldn’t have given me a vision if He didn’t want me to pursue it. I can’t quit because I haven’t given my business all that I have. There are so many things that I want to do and I would rather fail than quit. No one ever talks about what it feels like to fail. I have failed at many things, but I never stop trying. If one thing doesn’t work out, try something else. When you don’t quit, you become stronger. You get this determination that can’t be explained. You develop perseverance. Now is not the time to quit. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
